Solutions for in home air pollution

Research recognises that air quality is now the world's largest environmental health threat, responsible for around 40,000 early deaths a year in the UK alone, and that the air indoors, where we spend over 80% of our time, can be 2-5 times more polluted than the air outside.

Thanks to Innovate UK, projects are now underway with devices and apps utilising sensor technologies, augmented reality, and gamification to measure indoor pollution so that people can make informed choices and be nudged away from products and behaviours which cause or exacerbate allergies and asthma.

Perfino represents the next step - looking into ways that we can provide alternative delivery systems for products and behaviours which have become ingrained over the years.

Over 80% of perfumes typically contain solvents, usually ethanol, which is there to propel the fragrance into the air. This promotes green house gases...right under your nose, as well as under the nose of others...usually indoors.

We think there is smarter way to smell great, for your own wellbeing rather than for the room, using expertly blended fragrance oils, perhaps even the ones you already enjoy, but without the ethanol.

This is why we have entered the Women in Innovation Award challenge to find a  way to wear scent in a people and planet friendly way, so when you get the nudge from your household air measurement system, there is a viable alternative out there.
